The VAL-YOU Webinar series
Designed for teachers, school leaders and education professionals, the series connects European values with tools and activities for classroom practice. It places values at the heart of teaching, learning and school life.
Each webinar lasts approximately one hour and will offer time for questions and discussion.
European Values in Practice: From Principles to Classroom Activities
Tilburg University & Dr. Carl Hermann Gymnasium Schönebeck
What do European values mean for schools, and how can we help students explore their relevance to everyday life? This webinar connects the foundations of European values with classroom practice.
Tilburg University will introduce key concepts underpinning European values and their significance for education. Dr. Carl Hermann Gymnasium Schönebeck will bring the classroom perspective, using the VAL-YOU Shared Values teaching materials as a practical example.
Together, we will explore ways to make abstract principles accessible, encourage discussion and support reflection on values.
The VAL-YOU Toolkit: Practical Resources and Game-Based Learning
zentrum polis
Discover the VAL-YOU toolkit and explore how its resources can support values and democracy education in your classroom. This webinar offers an overview of the materials and ideas for using them in different teaching contexts.
A particular focus will be on game-based learning: how can games spark students’ curiosity, encourage participation and create meaningful conversations about values? Get a first introduction to the VAL-YOU game and prepare to explore it yourself before our hands-on follow-up session.
Play, Discuss, Reflect: The VAL-YOU Game in the Classroom
PandaBee
Experience game-based learning in practice with the VAL-YOU game. Explore how to play, pick up practical tips for facilitating sessions and consider how to use the game in your classroom.
Building on the previous webinar and your own exploration, this session will help you feel confident with the technical steps and ready to use the game with students. We will address common questions, work through practical challenges and explore how to move from trying the game yourself to running a classroom session.
We will also focus on reflection: how can the conversations during and after play help students connect their experience with European values?
New to the game? You are welcome to join even if you missed the previous webinar or have not yet tried the game.
Living Our Values: A Whole-School Approach to Democratic Education
OpenEurope
Teaching values also means living them as a school. How are democratic values reflected in everyday relationships, decision-making and opportunities for participation — in classrooms and across the wider school community?
This webinar introduces the VAL-YOU assessment tool as a starting point for reflection and development. Taking a whole-school approach, we will explore how the tool can help schools consider their current practice, open up discussion and identify practical steps towards a school culture that puts its values into action.
